The method is chosen after the line has been inspected. Condition, access, diameter, and the extent of structural loss determine what is feasible.
Video camera inspection
A flexible camera is run through the line to record defects, measure distances, and identify material. This is the foundation for any serious repair decision.
CIPP pipe lining
A resin-saturated liner is inverted or pulled into the existing pipe and cured in place. Suitable when the host pipe still has enough structure and is relatively continuous. Creates a new smooth interior surface.
Pipe bursting
A bursting head is pulled through the old pipe, fracturing it outward while simultaneously pulling in a new HDPE pipe. Useful for collapsed or severely deformed lines where lining is not possible. Can allow upsizing in some conditions.
Open-trench replacement
Excavation exposes the defective section or the entire lateral so it can be cut out and replaced with modern pipe. Necessary when the line is too damaged, has major offsets, or access for trenchless equipment is impractical.
Spot repairs & cleaning
Localized defects or heavy root and debris accumulation may be addressed with targeted excavation, robotic cutting, or high-pressure cleaning when the rest of the line remains serviceable.
